If you want to take a shuttle from the airport directly to MalPais/St.Teresa, or stay the night and shuttle in the morning, this may be the best option for you. The price for the Shuttle service to MalPais/St.Teresa is $35/person. The price for one night in Hotel Volcanos (private room with private bath/AC/Sat TV) and shuttle service to MalPais/St.Teresa is $70. For Rooms with a shared bath it is $60/person. For 2 people a private room (with private bath/ac/sat TV) is $55/person and a shared bath is $45/person. Car (4X4 reccomended)
From San José to TropicOlas: Drive to Puntarenas and take the Tambor or Peninsular ferry to Paquera. The drive is roughly 6 hours from SJ.

From Guanacaste to TropicOlas: Drive south through Nosara, Samara and Coyote, cross the Rio Bongo and continue through Manzanillo to Mal Pais.

Airplane
There are daily flights to Tambor offered by Sansa and Nature Air. From Tambor continue by bus or taxi to Cobono and then to Mal Pais. Flight time is only twenty-five minutes. Drive time from Tambor to Mal Pais is about thirty minutes. The flights cost around $65US one way. Check www.flysansa.com

Bus
From San José you can take a direct bus to Mal Pais. The cost is about $10US per person for a comfortable, air-conditioned bus ride. The bus leaves from the Coca Cola bus station.
